About our club
Founded in 1862, CRC has a long and proud history of being a volunteer-run shooting club.
Our committee, range officers, and instructors are all passionate about the sport and are invested in seeing each new member enjoy their time at the club.
We are open all year, 5 nights of the week. We facilitate internal, county, and national competitions and welcome shooters of all abilities and experience.
The legal bit
As with all Home Office-approved rifle clubs, we need to follow the Home Office guidelines. This means that the Police vet all potential members before the club takes up references.
Unfortunately, this also means that you are unable to just book a shooting slot and turn up, even if you already have a firearm certificate. You can either arrange to attend an induction, to see if shooting might be for you and follow this up with an application for probationary membership, or you can attend as a personal guest of a current full member.
There are also restrictions on Juniors and what they are allowed to do under the age of 18 years.
If you fall under section 21 of the Firearms Act, you are a prohibited person. Those are people who are sentenced to a term of imprisonment of three years or more and cannot possess a firearm or ammunition (including antique firearms) at any time.
Suspended sentences will attract the prohibition imposed by Section 21 of the 1968 Act. Section 110 of the Anti-social Behaviour Crime and Policing Act 2014 extends the definition of a prohibited person to include persons with suspended sentences of three months or more. The period of prohibition of five years begins on the second day after the date on which the sentence has been passed.
