Competitions

Internal Competitions

The Club has a range of internal competitions which, once you are consistent enough to shoot an average (6 cards, which need to be signed, witnessed and dated and submitted to the stats officer) you are welcome to enter. There is a small entry fee to cover medals and engraving. The trophies are presented at our AGM.

There are competitions for all disciplines and the stats officer and captains will show you which comps for your chosen discipline you can enter.

External competitions

As a club we enter postal competitions (you shoot the card at our range and it or the score is sent off to the scorer) The fantastic thing about shooting is that you shoot against others of similar average so no matter what your average is you have a great chance of winning a medal if you shoot well!

We regularly enter individuals and teams for prone rifle, air pistol, Light Sport Rifle and Gallery rifle in the following Postal leagues:

  • Croydon League
  • Cumbria and Northumbria Target Shooting Association leagues
  • Meridian League
  • Surrey County Smallbore Rifle Association leagues
  • West Kent Rifle League
  • Ian Burden League
  • NSRA postal competitions

Ask the Rifle Captain, LSR Captain or their assistants for details. Entries for the first 4 leagues need to be submitted by end of February and end of August. The other leagues have different entry submissions dates. There is a competition fee to pay for all entries.

Ask about entries so you don’t miss out!

Bisley

The club also have regular monthly shoots at the National Shooting Centre, Bisley; where we hire range space and you get to shoot outdoors. Here we have ongoing competitions shot over the course of the year, where you can enter, if you so wish and shoot cards nominated in advance. Again trophies and medals are presented at our AGM.

Shooting on an indoor range has constant conditions that do not change, whereas shooting outdoors throws up the problem of changing conditions. Wind strength and direction, temperature, sunshine ( or lack of it ), rain and even snow during the winter months are all variables that have an impact on outdoor shooting.

Below is a list of dates where Carshalton Rifle club will be shooting at Bisley this year:
